Overview

Baltec Australia's goals are to improve the environment by reducing the air pollution produced by industrial processes and to help our customers improve their knowledge, processes and equipment so their objectives are achieved at a lower cost.

Our technical personnel have appropriate tertiary qualifications in Engineering or Science and in-depth experience in air pollution control, electrostatic precipitation and industrial gas cleaning. They have also been involved with research and development and carry out regular missions overseas. Our broad experience, knowledge and customer commitment make us remarkably qualified to serve you.

  Project Management and Supervision

Baltec Australia's involvement in major precipitator refurbishment or upgrades will reduce downtime and improve the quality of project outcomes. Our engineers offer the following assistances:

 Project design and planning
 Inspection
 Startup support
 Commissioning
 Quality Assurance
 Site Supervision

  Technical Training Courses

The training is especially suited for hands-on personnel, plant engineers and operation & maintenance supervisors. This is also valuable to personnel involved with evaluating and purchasing new equipment. We can tailor courses to suit your needs.

Topics include:

 Precipitator Fundamentals.

 Process Factors.

Key ESP components conditions affecting operation.

Basic safety requirements when working on ESPs.

Function of ESP controls and behaviour under a variety of operating conditions.

  Online Performance Audit

Online audits are carried out with an ESP operating in normal mode, ie collecting dust. Precipitator characteristics are examined by acquiring and analysing data relating to inlet burden, outlet burden, dust characteristics, rapping data, peak, average and minimum voltages and currents for each precipitator load. The data is then used to determine precipitator efficiency and barriers to improved performance such as back corona, sparking and other precipitator problems.

  Offline Performance Audit

Offline audits record measurements with cold, still air between the electrodes. Before internal cleaning, an inspection is performed to check for rapping and airflow problems. After cleaning, a mechanical, electrical and structural inspection is undertaken. A full report with prioritised recommendations is issued upon completion. Photographs of inspection findings are included when deemed useful to enhancing the report.

  Precipitator Modelling

Off-site modelling of precipitator performance is an economical way to predict future performance under a variety of charged conditions such as different fuel types, production rates and precipitator modifications.

Both empirical and theoretical first principle models are used with modern powerful computing platforms to enable performance to be predicted before costly upgrades.

  Pre Maintenance Inspection

To enable complete and thorough maintenance to be undertaken during a plant outage, our engineers conduct an audit and condition survey at the start of the outage. The prioritised recommendations are passed to your maintenance team and the condition data can be stored for you as part of an ongoing monitoring programme.

  Computational Fluid Dynamics

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a new technology for modelling and analysing the gas flow pattern inside a precipitator. This is a very advanced method for such analysis.

Why Use Computational Fluid Dynamics for Precipitator Gas Distribution Modelling?

The anemometer test is grossly dependant on the experience of the individual who is carrying out the test as well as the one who analyses it. CFD is free from all these limitations and human errors . CFD analysis is undertaken using our modern advanced- performance computer workstation completely outside your plant, thus ensuring there are no interruptions to your production schedule.

Until recently CFD software was rarely tried for this application because of the cost and its usage has been limited to major heat transfer applications. Our associates in India, with considerable experience in GD tests, have invested in the necessary computing resources and personnel to make CFD available at an economical price.
